Top 10 forms for The Vision
Today we take a look at the Top 10 forms for The Vision as we celebrate that special mid-credit scene from WandaVision episode 8 which featured the debut of the White Vision as part of SWORD’s way to takedown Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch/ Wanda Maximoff.
There’s going to be tons of spoilers here so spoiler alert.
1. Silver Age Vision
We start this list with the OG Vision because of so much nostalgia. This was the look that I knew when you mention Vision. Its just so cool with the green and yellow with the red face. Also a lot of great awesome Avengers stories with this look. Even when the Avengers came back after Heroes Reborn, this was the look we got.
2. White Vision
He’s on this list because he just appeared in WandaVision. More than that this was the Vision that had more pretty much given up his humanity in exchange of his humanity. We got this Vision after Immortus obliterated his original form and the Avengers had to build him from scratch. When he got back online he was as cold as his exterior.
Tom King even revisits the moment in his acclaimed Vision miniseries in issue 7.
3. Ultimate Vision
The Ultimate Vision was weird in a good way. She was the herald of the Ultimate universe’s Galactus who was set to invade and consume Earth. Love the metallic look they gave her while retaining elements that made Vizh such a standout character.
4. Mainframe (Earth 691)
Mainframe was a part of the original Guardians of the Galaxy (with Yondu and not Peter Quill). He was originally part of the Avengers and had survived thousands of years before finding a new body, a new mission and a new family. He was the person who gave Vance Astro the shield that belonged to Captain America.
5. Marvel Mangaverse
I’m adding Mangaverse Vision because he looks like his “grandfather” Hank Pym in one of his many Ant-Man suits while at the same time carrying his traditional yellow and green motif. Too bad this character of the Vision died at the hands of the Mangaverrse version of Doctor Doom.
6. Young Avengers Vision
The slightly younger Vision has a lot of similarities with the original Vision. The only difference here is that this Vision is a combination of parts of the original Vision together with the armor of Iron Lad aka Nathanial Richards aka Kang the Conqueror. This character also follows the original Vision by falling in love with a fellow Young Avenger, that of Cassie Lang aka Stature.
The look is very simple so he goes in this list. We eliminate much of the yellow and green transitions for this costume in favor of a minimalist approach.
7. Uncanny Avengers Vision
Rick Remender relaunches the Uncanny Avengers team and brings in new characters. This is still the “Unity Squad” with new members stepping in like Quicksilver, Scarlet Witch, Sabretooth and even Brother Voodoo. This design was more in line with the costumes for the team and would carry over to other future stories. Mind you before this, during Bendis’ run on the Avengers, they found a way to bring back the original Vision and it was this version that got the updated costume.
8. Vision miniseries
Tom King brought in the Vision to new heights for his history when he transplanted the character from New York with the Avengers to suburbia and gave him a family. The 12-issue Vision miniseries set up Vision in his plan of living a normal, human life. He even had a wife Vivian, whose brain patterns came from Wanda Maximoff and two kids Viv and Vin. The story ends in tragedy leaving Vision broken-hearted while at the same time learning more about being human than ever before. Some elements of this book was also integrated in the current WandaVision story including Sparky, the dog.
9. MCU Vision (Avengers: Age of Ultron)
This version should be in this list. Hands down. Vision first appeared onscreen in his current form in Avengers: Age of Ultron. Prior to that, Vision actor Paul Bettany only played the role of the AI Jarvis in Iron Man and Iron Man 2. He subsequently appeared in other films like Captain America: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame.
10. Golden Age Vision
While they share the same name, the Golden Age Vision is a different being altogether but they share a lot of similarities. GA Vision is Aarkus and he’s an alien created for the comics by Captain America creators Joe Simon and Jack Kirby. Aarkus is a police officer from a dimension called Smokeworld. He came into contact with an Earth scientist who invited him to Earth and he took the place as his new home. He was even involved with Cap’s wartime team, the Invaders, when they fought against the Nazis back in World War II. He was recently seen working together with Bucky Barnes aka The Winter Soldier in order to save the life of their friend, Namor.
So there you go, my Top 10 forms for The Vision as he’s appeared in various medias through the years. Catch Vision and Scarlet Witch in their miniseries on Disney+ called WandaVision.
