Red Hood Outlaw Annual # 3 Reveals the fate of Bizarro and Artemis

Its been a while since we saw the Dark Trinity in action with Red Hood ditching his old costume and going by the side nickname “Outlaw”, wearing a new costume and brandishing a crowbar too. But we never really get to see what happened to his friends and teammates, Artemis and Bizarro. Now in Red Hood Outlaw Annual # 3 we find out where they are, what their doing and what could happen to them in the near future.

The prologue sees Jason Todd aka Red Hood trying to verify if his friends are already dead…

With no signs of death, Jason Todd is hopeful that the two are alive and safe.

But where are Bizarro and Artemis?

Apparently, they find themselves in a world where most of the heroes have died due to an bomb going off during what they refer throughout the issue as “Hero Day”.  Everything is destroyed including the Justice League’s Hall of Justice.

During this day, the League was taken down by a bunch of people who suddenly got superpowers, while the League themselves lost their powers and abilities. Case in point, Superman losing his strength.

The guard who was initially friendly to them turned out to be one of the bad guys and tried to kill the duo. Bizarro punches that guy to the sun. After getting in a fight, they get into more trouble, meets what looks like this reality’s version of the Joker called Jack Knife and joins the Resistance. They end up stuck for six months in this reality, helping them out and finding a way to get back to their world.

It’s here that they also go through some changes. Artemis getting a haircut and Bizarro growing back his beard.

These guys set a plan to set things right in the world and they get to meet the people responsible for the mayhem and death namely General Sam Lane (Lois Lane’s dad) and a badly mutated Lex Luthor, who also created the depowering bomb.

The good guys manage to overpower the bad guys, Artemis straight up murders Lex Luthor and they finally access the door going back to their world. Or at least a door outta the reality they were in.

So this is a big moment for Red Hood and the Outlaw fans as the “Dark Trinity” is slowly inching towards a reunion. Of course there’s a lot of things that Jason Todd needs to answer for during his time separated from his crew. How he becomes the new crimeboss, how he influenced Damian Wayne aka Robin to take a more violent approach to dealing with supervillains and a whole lot more.

Still, I can’t wait to pick up the book again when the trio are reunited and Jason ditches that ugly ninja suit and return to his classic Red Hood costume.
