Everything is Possible with Maya at Toycon Nexus 2026

Toycon 2026 aka Toycon Nexus x Poplife has come and gone, and with it was some hard-earned cash. The long-running geek event has it in the bag already with the number of activities and high-profile guests but for most collectors and enthusiasts, it’s that one time in the year that they can go to one place and go hunting for their holy grails for their collections. Others go to Day 1 of Toycon to get toys that they wanted to have or missed out on and hopefully get the said toys at affordable prices. I was the latter this year, looking to either add something to a specific collection or just buy something at a relatively good price. And I did just that with a slight challenge.

And that challenge was to put my budget on the Maya app and buy the good stuff with the aforementioned Maya app and account.

There really wasn’t much that I was looking to get save for a few action figures to close up my collection, particularly my Marvel Legends Astonishing X-Men collection. My other plan was to get some new merch and shirts or start a new collection focusing on big kaijus like Godzilla and other monsters under that brand.

Above is what I was really looking to get at Toycon 2026 to complete the collection. And below are some of the stuff that I got.

I got some new tees from T-Tees, a long-time friend and all around cool merch shop! I particularly loved the Yu Yu Hakusho shirt featuring Urameshi and Togoru with the classic phrase “Anong gentle gentle”. My second pick for the shirts was this Like A Dragon/ Yakuza shirt featuring our favorite one-eyed rogue Goro Majima who starred in Like A Dragon: Pirate Yakuza in Hawaii as well as the original Yakuza games. I love these shirts also because the quality is excellent. Lastly, I also got my daughter a Nezuko shirt from the anime and manga series Demon Slayer Kimetsu No Yaiba. Oh and all of this was for around P1000, paid through the Maya app, of course!

In terms of toys, I’m sad to report that the Marvel Legends figure I was looking for was not available. There was one store that had it, but they accept only cash, which I’ll talk about a little more later. Instead of losing focus and going astray with the spending, I opted to start a new collection right there and then.

One thing I noted here in this visit to Toycon 2026 was that there’s A LOT more merchants and booths that have embraced the use of QR payments and digital payments like Maya. Half a decade ago, there were only a handful of stores that did that, but now, based on my observation, everybody in that hall had digital payments. It’s also very great that you don’t have to bring cash to make payments because let’s face it, with that big of a crowd, carrying a lot of cash might be a red flag.
