Artist Recreate Every Panel and Page for Giant Size X-Men # 1 Anniversary!
A bunch of Marvel artists have come together to recreate and pay tribute to Len Wein and Dave Cockrum and to celebrate the 45th anniversary of Giant Size X-Men # 1 via this special book called Giant-Size X-Men: Tribute to Wein & Cockrum!
this book did a lot of things for the X-Men and the mutants in general. This was the shot in the arm needed to revive a waning X-Men franchise from Marvel too. The short of it was that the original 5 team’s book was in steady decline and the Uncanny title languished for awhile. Marvel had been reprinting the same stories for a bit before Len Wein and Dave Cockrum showed up and started this book.
They introduced an international team of X-Men and gave it a more diverse feel. We have Canadian Wolverine, Japanese Sunfire, Native American Thunderbird, Irish Banshee, German Nightcrawler, Russian Colossus and Kenyan Storm. And they weren’t pushovers too as the book fleshed out each character’s origins in bits which Chris Claremont eventually developed during his legendary run on the X-Men book.
So going back, Marvel is keen on celebrating this particular issue and they will be releasing a special “remake” issue with the following artists and creators.
