Justice League Unlimited # 1 Spoilers – that big twist ending on a new hero

One of the main twists and conflicts have been revealed at the end of this week’s Justice League Unlimited book by Mark Waid and Dan Mora. Here’s a big spoiler for Justice League Unlimited # 1 spoilers.

In this first issue for this promising new series and the return of the Justice League in the main books, our POV character happens to be the hero known as Airwave.

If you caught the end of DC Comics’ Absolute Powers, the heroes won the day but some of them lost more than won with some losing their powers or getting their powers replaced or getting their powers back but they lost their full contol over this. This was apparently the case for Airwave, which comes back later.

Through Airwave and The Flash, we get a quick tour of the JLA Watchtower (something I find lovable because of my fondness of the Justice League Unlimited series from years ago.)

It’s also through the tour that we find out that Red Tornado is still being repaired and his consciousness has been stuck inside the Watchtower system and is also acting as the monitor for the entire team. He’s also the one figuring out which hero gets sent to what mission. And for the opening mission, he decides that Airwave isn’t going to be a big help.

Only he does. During the mission, new member Star Sapphire is looking to help a dying soldier with the power of love. Airwave springs into action and uses the phones of people in the area to locate the soldier’s wife and when they do, Star Sapphire is able to heal the gravely wounded soldier with the power of love.

The team fall back to the Watchtower where Airwave gets a commendation from Superman. Later, in private, we see Airwave’s true colors.

There’s so many reasons he could be thinking this with the prime reason being he’s probably taken over by an unknown villain but it could also be because he’s angry at the Justice League for failing him during the events of Absolute Power.

Let’s see where this goes. Remember, there’s another baddie that’s looming in the background and it’s the possessed Raven at the end of the Beastworld miniseries.
