Spoilers for Red Goblin # 1 by Alex Paknadel and art by Jan Basaldua.
Throughout the story Normie Osborn’s been trying to deal with a lot of stuff from the death of his father Harry Osborn to the budding relationship between him and his very own symbiote he’s named “Rascal” to his night time adventures where he encounters the returning Goblin Nation.
During an event which his grandfather Norman is talking, the Goblin Nation attacks and these teenage delinquents pick a fight with Norman Osborn. When a member of the Goblin Nation takes Normie and Stanley hostage, Norman has no choice but to surrender. The gang knocks him out and brings him to their hideout where Norman is confronted by the “new” Goblin King.
If you’re not familiar to the importance of this, Phil Urich really got into fame in the Spidey books during the Brand New Day banner where he appeared as a sort of anti-thesis to Peter Parker. He got a franchise from the original Hobgoblin to use the costume and tech and go on a crime spree before being stopped by Spider-Man.
When Osborn vacated the role of Goblin King, Urich took the role as the new Goblin King until he was killed by Osborn when he was terrorizing the town as the original Red Goblin.
