Meet Jane Rumbaua the Filipina GRC rep in The Falcon and the Winter Soldier

If you were tuned in last friday to the finale of The Falcon and the Winter Soldier starring Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan from Marvel Studios and airing on Disney+, you’d notice that there was a cool scene involving Captain America (Mackie) and a Flag Smasher operated helicopter. That scene had a moment where Sam got back up from one of the passengers, played by Fil-Am actress Jane Rumbaua.

Learn more about her after the cut.

Her IMDB page credits her to 21 projects as an actress with TFTWS as her most recent work, appearing in two episodes as the GRC member “Ayla” who also has background in the Air Force. She even had photos taken of her wearing the Philippine Air Force uniform, which was also used in the scene in episode 6.

Her other works include Spotlight, The First, MacGyver, The Immortal Life of Henrietta Lacks, Prophet, Fantastic Four (surprise surprise) and smaller roles on TV series. And based on the post she shared on Facebook, it looks like she had a lot of fun working on the series!

It’s very surprising and good to know that Marvel Studios has actually paid attention to these little casting details. Even better is the big amounts of representations (and yeah, Pinoy pride) for Filipinos in this Marvel Studios series. From that Tagalog phrase spotted at the ending translating to Carli’s “One World, One People”, to Shanti Dope’s Amatz appearing in Episode 3 and to Rumbaua’s appearance in episode 5 and 6 to represent the Philippines.

Good job Marvel!
