Oscar Isaac in the running to play Moon Knight for Disney Plus Series
Star Wars actor Oscar Isaac is reportedly in the running to play Moon Knight for the Moon Knight TV series being developed by Marvel Studios and Disney for the Disney+ streaming platform.
According to reports from Deadline, its Marvel Studios that is considering getting him to star as the moon themed vigilante. And the studio and the actor’s agents are already doing initial talks for the Star Wars actor and “X-Men: Apocalypse” star to play the titular Moon Knight.
Moon Knight is Marc Spector, a mercenary who was bestowed the power of the Egyptian moon god Khonsu and acts as an avatar on Earth. He’s partly known for being a little crazy (because its the moon) and has also been known to adopt several personas throughout his Marvel run namely cab driver Jack Lockley and millionaire Steven Grant. He recently got some huge power upgrades in Jason Aaron’s run on Avengers where he stole a number of important stuff including the Iron Fist.
Meanwhile, the series could also be helmed by Jeremy Slater, the same writer who did phenomenal work on Netflix’s Umbrella Academy. This series has a long way to go too, considering they don’t have a director to helm it. But knowing Disney, they’ll eventually grab their man or woman.
With his time as Poe Dameron coming to an end in the Star Wars franchise, Isaac is not slowing down any time soon. When audiences head back to theaters, he has a number of films set to bow that include the next Paul Schrader thriller, The Card Counter as well as Denis Villeneuve’s retelling of Dune. He recently signed on to the HBO limited series Scenes From A Marriage at HBO, reuniting with his old Julliard classmate Jessica Chastain.
