Lazada Becomes first eCommerce Brand to introduce Digital Giving Platform in time for Holidays

Online shopping brand Lazada has become the first brand in the Philippines to expand into a digital giving platform on the eve of their big 12.12 Grand Year End Sale. In a program today, the brand has introduced 11 local and international organizations they are working with to empower customers to make dreams come true. This move is considered as a big step in their #LazadaforGood Program.

With this new feature for the platform, Filipinos can add heart-to-cart when they shop online and at the same time support local communities by donating to their cause via Lazada.

With more than 12 million deals, customers can look forward to shopping this season. But more importantly, they can look forward to offerings that reflect the meaningful relationships that we have built to benefit 11 local and international advocacy partners. These are:

  • Habitat for Humanity
  • Young Focus
  • Caritas Manila
  • MovED
  • UNHCR
  • Hero Foundation
  • UNICEF
  • WWF
  • Tahanan ng Pagmamahal
  • HOPE
  • CCEF.

Lazada shoppers can support causes close to their hearts from alleviating poverty to saving the enviroment to putting roof over someone’s head.

Ray Alimurung, Lazada Philippines’ Chief Executive Office says:

Ray Alimurung

Christmas is the season for giving, and we want to empower our customers to do just that and empower our advocacy partners in their various causes. Lazada’s 12.12 Grand Year End Sale is not only about making our wishes or our loved ones’ wishes come true, but also to make the wishes of many others in the community come true. This is the first digital giving platform by an eCommerce company in the Philippines. We are truly honored to partner with great organizations who share the same values, and going forward, hope to sustain this initiative by onboarding more. We believe that everyone can contribute in their own way, big or small, and we would like to do our part by providing our advocacy partners a platform to champion their causes, raise awareness, funds and resources.

There are three core elements for this new feature for both customers and partner organizations.

  1. Easy onoarding process means that its convenient for organizations to join the platform and get them necessary access to Lazada tools and services. It doesn’t matter whether they have a store or products to sell or not too.
  2. Bigger Traffic and Awareness means they get to reach more people thanks to the clout that Lazada has online. Then there’s the landing page where their links are lined up with other partners that could help drive awareness.
  3. Secured Payments are something for the customers. Lazada guarantees that payments/ donations made will be securely given to their intended organizations.

Local Launching

To celebrate the spirit of “Digital Giving” and launch the platform, Lazada held a local event today together with their 11 advocacy partners. This event’s goal was to provide necessary information to the media in attendance as well as information on the exclusive donatable items available online. There was also a mini quiz to to introduce each partner advocacy’s cause. The event “Lunch of Hope” was hosted by Katz Salao of 99.5 and a very cute performance by Caritas Manila YSLEP Scholar Choir.
