Ben Affleck Steps Down as The Batman Director
Academy Award winning actor and director Ben Affleck has called it quits with the DC Extended Universe Batman…
Well no, not really. He’s just announced that he’ll be stepping down as director for the solo Batman movie called ‘The Batman’. He’s still playing the dark knight and the smarky alter ego Bruce Wayne and he’ll still be the producer for the film.
Here’s what the ‘Argo’ director had to say:
There are certain characters who hold a special place in the hearts of millions. Performing this role demands focus, passion and the very best performance I can give. It has become clear that I cannot do both jobs to the level they require. Together with the studio, I have decided to find a partner in a director who will collaborate with me on this massive film. I am still in this, and we are making it, but we are currently looking for a director. I remain extremely committed to this project, and look forward to bringing this to life for fans around the world.
Warner Bros. had wished Ben Affleck well on his decision with this statement they released separately and at a different time.
Warner Bros. fully supports Ben Affleck’s decision and remains committed to working with him to bring a standalone Batman picture to life.
Let’s hope they pick the right director for the project. The right director who can also work under extreme deadlines as WB reportedly wants to push through with the release date they announced some time ago.
