RUMOR: Nicole Kidman as Aquaman’s Mom

Rumor has it that Nicole Kidman is currently being considered by the WB to play the role of Aquaman’s mother Atlanna in James Wan’s Aquaman.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, the actress has been Aquaman director James Wan’s choice from day one. It’s also interesting to note that the offer to play the role has been sent out to Nicole Kidman’s camp yesterday and we’re now waiting to see if the actress is interested enough.

She’s certainly played a huge role in the development of the character and how he comes to accept his Atlantean heritage.

The basic premise is that she’s part of the Atlantean Royal Family but ran away from home when she was younger. She met and fell in love with lighthouse keeper and surface dweller Tom Curry and after a year of living together, they had a son they named Arthur Curry aka Aquaman.

Oh and did we mention that the retconned version shows Atlanna to be alive but she did abandon her son with her father and returned to Atlantis sometime after the child was born.

And they’ve met in battle too.

Aquaman will star Jason Momoa as Arthur Curry/ Aquaman, Amber Heard as Mera, Patrick Wilson as Orm/ Ocean Master, Willem Dafoe as Vulco and will be directed by James Wan. Opens October 5, 2018
