Marvel begins their promotion for Civil War II with a slam-bang, action filled sequence by Brian Michael Bendis and Jim Cheung.
It’s not an event book if no one dies and in this case the death of the hero will be one of the many touchpoints for this series. Sadly its too early and my initial thoughts on the project is that they once again cheapen character deaths to earn dollars.

In the FCBD (Free Comic Book Day) we find out that War Machine aka Jim Rhodes has an on-again / off-again relationship with Carol Danvers aka Captain Marvel (I really didn’t know about that)…
T’chall aka Black Panther is not pleased with the PDA, also the Inhumans make an appearance in the Triskellion together with their new precog, the man they call Ulysses.
After pleasantries, pre-cog guy gets a vision of Thanos coming to Earth is search of the cosmic cube. They prepare for his arrival and sure enough he ‘ports to Earth, specifically to Project Pegasus.
They scuffle in several pages, drawn beautifully by Jim Cheung…
Did comicbook Rhodey just do a MCU Rhodey reference with his “boom” comment?
Things go incredibly wrong when Thanos throws Medusa War Machine’s way and the resulting “tangle” triggers a missile going She-Hulk’s direction.
He loses focus and this provides Thanos the opening he needs to deliver a killing blow to Rhodey.
This is a trigger for Captain Marvel and the Ultimates, A-Force and the Uncanny Inhumans.
So to answer your question, War Machine officially “dies” in Civil War II and She-Hulk is most likely in a coma.
Question now is, whose side are you on again for Civil War II?

Bendis’s writing is absolute tripe. So Thanos (with a gun) gets KO’d by Danvers. Someone that has withstood energy attacks from Odin in Asguard (when Odin was Odin) and blasted a well fed Galactus away. And She-Hulk (someone who supposedly has greater strength than Hercules) gets taken out by a missile that doesn’t look powerful enough to level a third of a city.
The dialog is superficial, tired, and at times cookie-cutter. I won’t be supporting this garbage.
