Design
To start things off, let me say that the GT version is definitely worth getting, especially if you want to get the most out of your gaming experience. From an aesthetic standpoint, the gold or yellow design features the “GT” look which also helps make it look like something taken from the now-classic game “Cyberpunk 2077,” complete with the RGB pulsing lights. The design was also flat as heck, and that’s for a specific reason. You see, playing mobile games with a flat surface helps make playing games easier to hold, making it very tactile. Compare that to clutching a smartphone with bumps on the back and playing for at least 2 hours, and you’ll see how cumbersome it can be.
It’s a small detail, but I am also sold on that red power button. It just looks good.
The rounded corners also help make the phone such a treat to hold.
There’s also the shoulder triggers which comes in handy when you’re playing games that require additional buttons like COD Mobile and PUBG Mobile.
Display
For its price range, the nubia Neo 5 GT is pretty good, especially since it’s focused on catering to gamers’ needs. The product comes with a 6.8-inch AMOLED Display, which has 1224 x 2720 resolution and 144Hz Refresh Rate, 4500nits peak brightness, and a punch-hole camera. The refresh rate is another notable thing with this smartphone since it helps make the graphics pop more and look visually fluid compared to the graphics of other smartphones.
Camera
The nubia Neo 5 GT‘s main camera comes in a dual camera setup with the main camera sporting a 50MP Main Camera (f/1.8 Aperture, Autofocus) as well as the 2MP Depth Sensor. It also features an LED Flash at the back to help illuminate your shots anytime you want. Here are some samples using the main camera of the nubia Neo 5 GT:
Selfie Camera
Meanwhile, the selfie camera or the front camera comes with a 8MP (f/2.0 Aperture) camera. The quality as you can see below is also good especially when you take selfies in a well-lit environment. Vloggers and content creators take note as the Neo 5 GT can also shoot up to 1080p videos.
Gaming
The nubia Neo 5 GT focuses heavily on gaming, and as you can see below they actually have a Gamespace area where you can choose from your list of installed games. Gamespace lets you customize the settings for your games and it remembers it. For example, you set Mobile Legends Bang Bang on High settings and Wuthering Waves or Genshin Impact is set on medium setting.
Overall, this is a good addition because not only does it screen your activities, stop things from hassling you in important moments of your games, help record and take screenshots and of course optimize your gaming experience.
Performance
I was actually surprised at some of the benchmark scores that the nubia Neo 5 GT score during the review phase. I ran this using Geekbench and 3DMark (particularly the Slingshot test) and here are the results:

Battery
I liked the battery life on the nubia Neo 5 GT mainly because it can actually take a beating and it’ll be a while before you actually feel that you need to charge your phone. This smartphone comes with a 6210 mAh battery, battery that supports 80W Fast Charging when using the native charger and cable.
And you know what, the design for the cable and charger is also very gamer-centric.
Last Thoughts
With SRP of P17,999 you’ll have a good smartphone with the nubia Neo 5 GT. While it’s main focus is providing good quality for gaming, it’s does well in other aspects including multi-tasking and mobile performance. It also has a good solid battery with fast charging to boot. Taking photos are covered to certain extent but I wouldn’t really depend on the Neo 5 GT for photos. What I will depend on for this is taking care of my gaming whether its for high-octane action FPS shooters or ARPGs or MOBA games, the game can compensate and work well. It’s also easy to tweak settings with the game-friendly app function.
