Avengers Armageddon # 2 Spoiler Recap

Armageddon grows closer with the release of Avengers Armageddon # 2 this week! Here’s what happened in this issue by Chip Zdarsky, Frank Alpizar and Delio Diaz!

In Avengers Armageddon # 2, the not-Avengers reach Symkaria to stop Thunderbolt Ross aka Red Hulk and his Hulk soldiers from taking over the country.

This team includes David Colton, the failed Captain America from 911.

The team including Ben Grimm is shocked at how violent and brutal Colton is towards their enemies.

Meanwhile, the Russians make their move assembling their superteam known as the Winter Guard who we’ve already seen in previous volumes of Avengers including Red Guardian and Crimson Dynamo. Their plans at this point haven’t been revealed.

Back in Symkaria, Colton and Ross finally encounter and Colton’s so pissed off that he takes Ross away from the fight.

Being a master strategist, Ross decides that he needs to use some human shields so he jumps to a populated city to get some distance between them. Colton ignores the populace and continues to fight Ross, eventually flying him off to some woodlands to continue dishing out some beating. Bucky Barnes aka Winter Soldier manages to reach Colton before he decides to kill Thunderbolt Ross.

Before he lands the killing blow, Iron Man swoops in and takes him out of the area. Colton’s so powerful though that he manages to break away from Iron Man’s grip and he rips out Tony Stark’s repulsor. Colton also expresses his disgust that the Avengers are soft and weak, planting the seeds of him possibly being the real villain at the end of the series.

Colton flies off and Tony returns to Bucky only to discover that Red Hulk has disappeared.

We also find out that its the Winter Guard who kidnaps the badly injured Red Hulk. We still don’t know what they plan to do with their new captive.

Some time later, Iron Man manages to take stock of Red Hulk’s equipment which includes his laptops and one of Doctor Doom’s future machine which depicts a big nuclear explosion.

So far, we are already seeing how this is going to pan out with Colton eventually becoming a bad guy, Rulk becoming the secondary villain here and a possible return of a very injured Steve Rogers to his role as Captain America. But that’s all guesses at the moment.
