The play was shared on ABS-CBN’s youtube account from the 8th to the 9th of May with the goal of raising funds for COVID-19 relief. It had attracted around 3 million views in the two days that it was streamed and generated positive and negative buzz. And in case you’re wondering what Ang Huling El Bimbo is about, its pretty much a musical using the songs made famous by the OPM band The Eraserheads. So expect to hear classic songs like “With A Smile”, “Torpedo”, “Alapaap” and of course, “Ang Huling El Bimbo”.The play also featured talents like Jon Santos, Gian Madrigal, OJ Mariano and my new favorite, Gab Pangilinan!

Here’s what most of the cast were sharing on social media about the piracy of their material.

Pirating material such as this hurts everybody in the long run. That’s my stance on the matter. Even movies that are pirated affect everybody but stage plays, full stage plays in particular, gets hurt the most when copies are shared online. There’s actually a reason why plays are expensive, you have to consider the time and the production expenses to make the play.

It’s pretty much the same analogy as to why you pay a lot whenever you see a doctor. They are professionals and they put in time and money for their professional skills. That’s why its expensive.
