Marvel Announces Return of Wolverine with New Powers and Same Creative Team
Wolverine has been running around the Marvel Universe for some time unbeknownst to most of his friends and family. And now Marvel is officially bringing him back to the fold with the miniseries Return of Wolverine with an additional powers to boot.
Return of Wolverine will be done by the same people who killed him years ago, Charles Soule and Steve McNiven. If you remember, the duo did Death of Wolverine where we saw the feral mutant “dying” after being encased in adamantium after taking down the people who ran Weapon X.
Aside from his return, there’s also a new addition to Logan’s power set in “Return of Wolverine”. When he comes back, the X-Man will have the ability to heat up his adamantium claws making it more lethal and deadlier.
In an interview with Marvel.com, Charles Soule answers:
I thought this was a real opportunity to do things that would make him feel new and fresh in a way; if you come back from the dead, it should mean something. One of the outwardly physical manifestations of that is that now, from time to time, his claws—once they’re popped—they can heat up. They can get really hot.
The cover done by Adam Kubert gives fans a look at how these “heated” claws work. Meanwhile, fans are also encouraged to pick up the “Hunt for Wolverine” books where these new powers manifest.
Return of Wolverine #1 (of 5) by Charles Soule and Steve McNiven arrives on September 19 from Marvel Comics.
