Top 5 Things to Look Forward to Marvel’s new PVP Shooter Marvel Rivals

Marvel just dropped new details for Marvel Rivals! Here are the Top 5 Things to Look Forward to Marvel’s new PVP Shooter Marvel Rivals!

First off the game is developed and created by NetEase Games and Marvel Games and is described as a “cooperative, Super Hero team-based PVP shooter! Players can assemble an ever-evolving all-star squad of Super Heroes and Super Villains, while battling with unique super powers across a dynamic lineup of destructible maps from across the Marvel Multiverse.” It is currently in the works from the same company that delivered A-grade mobile and console games like Call of Duty and Battlefield. It is also set for release exclusively for the PC.

“We are overjoyed to bring Marvel Rivals to players around the world. We have always loved Marvel’s universe and its characters, and we are so excited to be developing this game,” said the Marvel Rivals Producer Stephen Wu. “This is the game we want to make, and we feel very lucky to be the team who made all of this come true.”

“NetEase Games is excited to collaborate with Marvel Games to deliver a thrilling, fast-paced cooperative gameplay experience featuring all of your favorite Super Heroes,” said Ethan Wang, Senior Vice President, NetEase, Inc. “This partnership with Marvel Games continues our commitment to build world class development teams and reach global audiences with cutting edge experiences.”

“Marvel Rivals is one of our most ambitious game development projects. Since the conceptualization of the game and throughout our collaboration, our Marvel team has poured our hearts and souls into this project, and we are thrilled to work with the incredible team at NetEase Games to help deliver the ultimate Super Hero team-based PVP shooter,” says Jay Ong, Head of Marvel Games.

That being said, here are the top 5 things we can look forward to in Marvel Rivals

1. Stacked Roster

Judging from the Marvel Rivals trailer we saw, there’s already a big lineup of characters popping out for the game. But its a no-brainer that there will be more and more characters added into the mix as we go down the road. Who wouldn’t be excited to see the Fantastic Four in this game or the X-Men or if you’re Sony, the Sinister Six. I mean that could be a big deal right there. Choose one specific skill line and or aspect i.e. Cosmic or Mystical and there’s a plethora of characters to get or look forward to.

2. More and More Worlds

Maps are integral in making a shooter game fun. We have seen that in Overwatch and Valorant already made it clear that it can become an integral part of the strategy. That’s why I look forward to see these maps come to life when Marvel Rivals rolls out. I’m excited to see all sorts of locales from the Marvel Universe get turned into maps maybe even some from the MCU. I’m already betting we get the Savage Land and Wakanda and even the X-Mansion’s backyard. Maybe in season updates or future patches it could even tie up to whatever Marvel Studios project is going to happen like what Future War did with Phase 3 to Phase 5 movies.

3. Interesting Plots per season

The initial story for ‘Rivals’ will revolved around Doctor Doom and his 2099 version as they wage war and bring the universes and the timestream along for the ride. The war will be so huge that it causes a “Timestream Entanglement” that creates new worlds and an even bigger crisis. Now the heroes and villains have to fight to stop the two Doctor Dooms from destroying everything.

That premise is a typical Marvel comic story but what I’m looking at is beyond that story. We can expect new stories or substories (which is what NetEase is doing in Future Fight anyway)

4. Interactive Environments

Imagine getting a map based on Murderworld run by Arcade and then imagine all the perils and dangers that both teams need to avoid and imagine the learning curve before teams can use those traps to their advantage. It could make for some thrilling moments if you ask me. Not to mention dozens of different strategies and tactics teams can use.

5. Big potential for esports

This could be the big thing that combines Marvel and esports and I am excited for that prospect. I’m already thinking Marvel and Disney salivating at the idea of doing a world championship in a sold out arena for the game. But that could take years and a long bridge of working together with players and professional teams. Something that Marvel isn’t used to but maybe NetEase has some experience with. Either way, the prospect jumping off of Marvel Rivals is astonishing to say the least. Make it happen Marvel. Make it happen.
