Akira Toriyama is back with a new Dragon Ball project titled Dragon Ball Daima

TOEI announces a new Dragon Ball project titled Dragon Ball Daima at this year’s New York Comic Con with Akira Toriyama back in the saddle and calling the shots for the project.

And while this might look like a rethread of Dragon Ball GT, Toei and Toriyama have been saying that this is going to be different from the polarizing Dragon Ball GT anime series. In this one, it’s not just Goku that gets turned into a kid but other characters too including Vegeta and even Bulma. Toriyama also shares that Goku would be using the classic Nyoibo (Power Pole) to fight in this project.

The biggest unclear thing for me about this project is whether its going to be a movie ala Super Hero or an anime series. I’m thinking it would be an anime series but we may not so sure yet.

Hello. I’m Akira Toriyama.

I’m currently working on a new Dragon Ball.
The title is “Dragon Ball Daima“.

“DAIMA” is a made-up term, which in Japanese characters would be “大魔” or in English would be something like “Evil.”

Due to a conspiracy, Goku and his friends are turned small.
In order to fix things, they’ll head off to a new world!
It’s a grand adventure with intense action in an unknown and mysterious world.

Since Goku has to make up for his petite size, he uses his Nyoibo (Power Pole) to fight, something not seen in a long time.

I came up with the story and settings, a well as a lot of the designs.
I’m actually putting a lot more into this than usual!

Things will unfold that close in on the mysteries of the Dragon Ball world.

Reading that alone it already reminds me of the general plot for GT where Goku, a younge adult Trunks and Pan fly across the universe to look for the Dragon Balls that could restore Goku back to his adult form. I am one of the fans who actually liked GT and I am forever grateful for the series for giving us SSJ4 Goku, SSJ4 Vegeta and SSJ4 Gogeta.
