OPPO Reno10 Pro 5G Review

Here’s my OPPO Reno10 Pro 5G review which features 6.7 inches AMOLED screen, 50MP main camera, 32 MP front camera, 4600 mAh battery and more!

Design

The design is also quite modern and enjoyable to use. The front display has a curved design that makes it easy to hold a d comfortable. The phone’s rear has a plastic build and a matte finish making it impervious to scratches and smudges.

No smudges and no fingerprints with the Oppo Reno10 Pro 5g

There are also two colors for you to choose from for the OPPO Reno10 Pro 5G namely the Silvery Gray and the Glossy Purple. My unit was the Gray one which looks simple yet premium. There’s also very little protrusion for this smartphone which is nice especially since smartphones that came out late last year and this year seem to love those protruding cameras like there’s no tomorrow.

It’s also one of the lightest and slimmest 5G smartphones I’ve been able to use weighing in at 185 g, I didn’t even realize I was carrying around a 5G smartphone already.

Display

As I mentioned earlier the coolest and most important feature is the curved screen design. It’s something that worked really well with the OPPO Find X5 Pro which has been my daily driver for awhile now and now it’s already part of their mid-range phones. The OPPO Reno10 Pro 5G comes with a 6.7 inches AMOLED screen with 500 nits and 1080 x 2412 pixels resolution.

In terms of screen protection, they also got us covered with the Asahi Glass AGC DT-Star2 which is pretty sturdy enough; I would still prefer Gorilla Glass but that brand’s kind of getting old already.

I like the 89.7% screen to body ratio for this phone; with the 20:9 screen ratio is just enough to be engrossed with whatever you’re looking at whether its a game or a Youtube video. Pretty great. Despite the seemingly small frame, you can still enjoy your Netflix and YouTube videos with the AMOLED screen. The refresh rate for the phone is 120hz which is up to speed with the current trend so you know you’re not missing out on anything.

Camera

One of the biggest selling points for this smartphone is the camera which is pretty great IMHO. I have to mention this again that the phone has a triple camera system with a 50 megapixel ultra-clear main camera attached to it. But that’s not all, the camera also has a 1/1.56-inch large IMX890 flagship it also supports OIS and All Pixel Omni-Direction PDAF to improve stability and correct minor shakes.

I just have to stress how promising the telephoto/ zooming this smartphone has. The OPPO Reno10 Pro 5G has a 32 megapixel telephoto portrait camera together with a 2x optical zoom which looks really great for taking shots from a distance. The same goes for the video mind you.

The phone also features a large RGBW IMX709 sensor, and a high resolution that ever existed on smartphones in this price segment.

So in terms of shooting capabilities, the Reno10 Pro 5G’s telephoto portrait camera can reach a minimum focus of 25cm and has a light intake of around 60%. Image noise reduction is dropped to around 35% compared to the typical RGGB sensors available in current smartphones in the market. This also ensures that you snap only the best looking photos even at low-light settings or dark environments.

The zoom’s pretty impressive while not even attempting to break your wallet’s spirit or your bank account. The Reno10 Pro 5G has a 32MP IMX709 Telephoto Portrait Camera and a 112° 8MP Ultra Wide-angle Camera

For selfies, you can also expect good shots whether you’re using the portrait mode or the normal camera which has a second IMX709 lens on it with AF autofocus for capturing really ultra-clear photos whether its outdoors at night or during the daytime.

The selfie camera also comes with Autofocus function that can make the necessary adjustments for the certain conditions. It also helps improve image clarity and facial recognition technology as well.  The front camera supports up to 2X zoom with a minimum focusing distance of 15cm, so you can simply tap the screen to get clear selfies any time, anywhere!

Other features for the camera includes an improved Bokeh Flare for Portraits. You can now switch around the aperture of the OPPO Reno10 5G Pro to any value from F1.4 to F16 to make more professional shots. You can also make minor and major adjustments including the foreground bokeh, bokeh flare, andnatural image matting and more. Here are some samples.

Gaming and Processors

The Reno10 Pro 5G comes with Qualcomm® SnapdragonTM 778G 5G Mobile Platform. This offers tremendous computing power and better performance whether it’s for gaming or viewing or both. I found the phone working great during events when I had to go from playing games (because it was kind of a slow time) to taking photos to editing them to posting on social media and quickly swapping to video to take videos during the phone’s launch.

It also helps when it comes to reduced power consumption even when you’re running on mobile data for the whole day.

Battery

The main concern for the reno10 Pro 5G is the battery which is around 4600mAh but I was impressed with how long it can run partly due to the processor together with OPPO’s new Battery Health Engine. And mind you, even if its 4600mAh, when you use it, it doesn’t even feel like it’s got a small battery.

In terms of charging you also have the steady and reliable SUPERVOOC S as well as the new SUPERVOOC S Power Management Chip which combines a total of six different functions to make your smartphone more efficient. This includes:

  • Battery Protection
  • Decoding
  • Circuit Breaking
  • Charging
  • Discharging
  • Resetting

More importantly with this chip, it decreases the space used up for fast-charging your smartphone.

UI and UX

The phone comes out of the box on an Android 13 OS working in tandem with OPPO’s very own ColorOS and some nifty new upgrades and updates including a “Multi-Screen Connect” which can connect with other devices, like a PC or a tablet, helping you to easily work across multiple screens simultaneously. Once connected, devices can benefit from clipboard sharing to transfering photos and videos from your smartphone to other devices.

Since it runs on Android 13, you can also be sure that everything from the current Android OS build is properly integrated and used on the OPPO Reno10 Pro 5G.

Final Thoughts

I enjoyed using the OPPO Reno10 5G while doing this review. The colors are life-like whether you use the regular photo mode or go into portrait mode. For the price, you also have decent telephoto that takes around 20x before it looks garbled. Around 3x to 6x the photos still look great. The sound quality and battery life is also exquisite and I thoroughly enjoyed using it during my recent visit to Toycon PH 2023.

The OPPO Reno10 Pro 5G is now available in stores as well as on Lazada, Shopee and TikTok Shop with SRP29,999
