One Piece Chapter 1044 introduces Gear Five Luffy

Spoilers for One Piece chapter 1044 which introduces readers to Monkey D. Luffy’s most powerful form yet, Gear Five.

Before we proceed, SPOILER ALERT for One Piece chapter 1044.

So in this chapter, Luffy finally gets a massive upgrade after getting his ass beaten in the past few chapters by Kaidou with the latter seemingly being able to beat Luffy because, lets face it, his devil fruit allows him to turn into an azure dragon, wiping the floor with anybody at any given time.

Too bad for the Emperor though because we also get to see the full extent of Monkey D. Luffy’s own devil fruit which is also a Zoan-type an a mythical one too. It is apparently the Gomu Gomu No Mi or the Gomu Gomu devil fruit that Luffy has is actually the Hito Hito No Mi or the Human Human Fruit.

When the Devil Fruit awakens, this gives Luffy the chance to showcase his new powers, pretty much trolling all of Kaido’s attacks in a very cartoonish manner. The final page of One Piece Chapter 1044 gives readers a good look at Luffy when he’s using Gear 5.

Things should be more exciting next chapter as Luffy has gained enough power to go one on one with an emperor who can turn himself into a fricking dragon.

Its definitely a good time to be a One Piece fan at the moment thanks to this surprise at the end of chapter 1044.
