New Rurouni Kenshin anime series announced focusing on the Hokkaido Arc

Jump Festa 2022 continues rolling out new announcements and we even have new confirmation that there will be a new Rurouni Kenshin anime series that’ll most likely be based on the ongoing Rurouni Kenshin: Hokkaido Arc.

Linden Films will reportedly handle the new series which is set some time after the original manga’s ending with the central story being Kenshin Himura and his family travelling to Hokkaido to look for Kaoru Kamiya’s long-lost father.

The teaser doesn’t show much other than our favorite ronin Kenshin looking all dead serious and ready to use his reverse-edge blade on anybody foolish enough to hurt his family and friends.

 

Now for a little background.

The new title, Hokkaido Arc was launched by Nobuhiro Watsuki and Kaoru Kurosaki, was launched in September 2017 then went on a hiatus in December 2017 after Watsuki was charged with possession of child pornography. It returned in June 2018 followed by a two month break in June and July.

The original Rurouni Kenshin manga was released in 1994. The manga 72 million copies worldwide. It spawned a 95 episode anime series, three original video anime or OVA, an anime film, five movies including Rurouni Kenshin: The Beginning starring Takeru Satoh playing Kenshin Himura.
