In a recent panel, some of the more important members of the game’s production were present including Tomohiko Hirano (producer), Tatsuya Kando (director), Gen Kobayashi (character designer) and Takeharu Ishimoto (composer) had stated that it was a technology thing which delayed the production of the series.

The series will feature the following talents as the voice cast:

Neku will be voiced by Kouki Uchiyama
Shiki will be voiced by Anna Hachimine
Joshua will be voiced by Ryohei Kimura
Beat will be voiced by Subaru Kimura
Rhyme will be voiced by Ayana Taketatsu

The game still playable on the Nintendo DS as well as on mobile. There’s also another game called “The World Ends with You: Final Mix” which is available for the Nintendo Switch.
