So there will be scenes featuring three of the most popular characters from the Sonic universe. And they are also following the scale of the characters from animated series like “Super Sonic”. Knuckles the Echidna always was way taller than Sonic in official canon so this is good.
Standees are a good way of shooting scenes especially if the film will feature CGI heavy characters. The same shooting technique was used in some scenes of The Lord of the Rings and was also used sparsely in the various Transformers movies and even in some Marvel Studios films. So having standees of the three main characters for the new Sonic movie is a good idea.
The 2020 Sonic the Hedgehog movie earned $319.7 million from a modest budget of $80 to $90 million. It was the sixth biggest movie in 2020 and was also released in 40 countries which made it an additional $43 million. In terms of reception, the first film got a Rotten Tomatoes score of 63% and an average rating of 5/10 from reviewers and consumers.
Sonic the Hedgehog 2 will be directed by Jeffrey Fowler and will star Jim Carrey as Dr. Robotnik, James Marsden and Tika Sumpter. Ben Schwartz will also be back to lend his voice to Sonic in this movie which is slated for release April 8, 2022 by Paramount Pictures.
