Beta Ray Bill getting new series with new look after Thor and King in Black
Beta Ray Bill is getting a new limited series from Marvel which directly spins off the current events in Thor as well as Donny Cates’ King in Black story.
The new limited series will be written and drawn by Daniel Warren Johnson who also did titles like Murder Falcon and Wonder Woman: Dead Earth. As mentioned, the book will tie-in to the things that have happened in the current Thor volume written by Donny Cates and drawn by Nic Klein.
So he gets a new look and will be looking for a new weapon since the All-Father Thor broke Stormbreaker in the “Thor” saga back when he was a herald of Galactus and fighting the Black Winter. Along his galaxy spanning journey, the writer is also preparing him for a match with the Knull-controlled Fin Fang Foom which you can see in the cover for issue 1 above.
“I have known Dan for almost a decade now,” Cates said. “We both got our start together a long time ago on a crazy little book called Ghost Fleet, and I knew all those years ago that I was absolutely ‘marrying up’ in regards to an artistic partner on a book. Dan is brilliant. Pure and simple. He’s just built differently. He’s not the same species as the rest of us mere mortals. And if you went back in time and told me that Dan and I were both now playing in the world of Thor like this, the only thing that would surprise me is that they let me in to play as well. This Beta Ray Bill book that Dan has built is special. And beautiful and heartfelt and chainsaw-razorblade-guitar-riff-to-your-bones metal. It is, in fact, what I always knew Dan would be doing. I couldn’t be more proud, and more excited, for him to unleash this book on you. You aren’t ready.”
The book will have several variant covers including one by Walter Simonson…
… and another one by Ryan Stegman…
What do you think of this new adventure of Beta Ray Bill? I’m actually hoping that this does well enough for Marvel to give him an ongoing which runs side by side with whatever’s happening in the Thor books.
