Former Punisher Thomas Jane wants to do a Punisher movie starring Jon Bernthal
There’s this nice interaction between former Punisher Thomas Jane and the Netflix Punisher Jon Bernthal when the former was asked who he wants to cast for the lead role.
In an interview, Jane (The Mist, Deep Blue Sea) was quoted saying this:
‘I love what Bernthal did on Netflix. I think he’s such a great Punisher … I think that producers and studios are now aware that there’s a real audience for the darkness … I would love to do that’
This eventually reached Bernthal who was very happy with the vote of approval from his predecessor for the role of Marvel’s resident hard-hitting vigilante Frank Castle aka The Punisher.
He retweeted a post about that saying:
Im honored and grateful for the kind words brother. Unflinching, unrelenting and endless darkness. There is a bit of Frank in all of us. https://t.co/8TDJV2TrMi

Could be an interesting mix having these two Punishers making a new Marvel Studios version of the grim n gritty anti-hero. Jane played Castle in 2004’s The Punisher which also starred:
Thomas Jane as Frank Castle
John Travolta as Howard Saint
Will Patton as Quentin Glass
Rebecca Romijn as Joan
Ben Foster as Spacker Dave
John Pinette as Nathaniel Bumpo
Samantha Mathis as Maria Castle
Marcus Johns as Will Castle
Meanwhile Bernthal starred in the Netflix adaptation of Marvel’s The Punisher which ran for 2 seasons and a total of 26 episodes. It also starred Ebon Moss-Bachrach as David Lieberman / Micro, Ben Barnes as Billy Russo / Jigsaw, Deborah Ann Woll as Karen Page. The character also appeared in one season of Daredevil where they did an iconic scene from the comics. Check it out below:
