vivo V20 Pro Review

vivo has released their latest flagship phone and I can tell you right now, it’s worth getting! Here’s my vivo V20 Pro review! This smartphone is now out in the market and available through Shopee, Lazada and in vivo stores nationwide with SRP P24,999!

Design

The design for the v20 Pro is one that’s worth the hype. Its definitely worthy of being hyped as the slimmest 5G phone in the market today. Here’s the breakdown of design and parts of the vivo v20 Pro.

The front of the v20 features the 6.44-inch FHD+ (2400 × 1080) AMOLED display.

It’s got a nice finish and very sleek. They definitely made true with their promise of delivering a 5G capable phone in such the slimmest way possible for now. The on-screen fingerprint sensor is also here again and is faster than ever.

The dual front camera is placed in the middle and has a notch too.

The right side of the phone features the volume control and the power button. Meanwhile the left side is clear.

Meanwhile, the bottom part of this smartphone features the USB port, the phone’s main speaker and the SIM tray.

A little bit of heads up too as this phone doesn’t have the standard port for the headphones. Instead it comes with an adapter with one end being the 3.75 jack and the other a Type-C USB port. It kinda takes a while to get used too but its fine. Just means you can’t leave home without that jack. Or another option is using bluetooth earphones or headphones.

Hats off for the back of the smartphone because it looks great!

Other colors available for the v20 Pro includes Sunset Melody, Midnight Jazz, and Moonlight Sonata. I would have picked Moonlight Sonata but the white variant gives off this minimalist, space shuttle vibe and I’m totally OK with that. Reminds me of Kamen Rider Fourze if I think real hard about it.

They’ve also designed the camera to look great even from a distance; although we’ll talk about the camera a little bit later…

Display

The display isn’t a pushover at all. the v20 has a 6.44 inch display which is AMOLED by the way and has a resolution of 2400 x 1080 with 408 ppi (pixels per inch). This ensures that you get the best visuals whatever you’re doing with the smartphone whether its gaming or streaming.

I’m also not worried about scratches on the screen because of the Corning Gorilla Glass attached to this smartphone. Thanks vivo! The display brings a lot to the table in terms of entertainment and gaming.

Camera

So here’s what got me when I saw the specs for the v20 pro. Why are they doing a triple camera setup when everybody and their mothers are doing quad cameras? Simple, two out of three cameras are on the top of the food chain meaning they are working within the standards for phones across all brands. The 64 megapixel with F1.89 camera can already do wonders whether its indoor mobile photography or outdoor mobile photography.

The main camera looks good and you can swap it out with different lens to get the best quality. When you click on the lens option, you can pick out three options. These options’ include the Super wide angle, the Bokeh mode and the Super Macro.

And I don’t even have any problems with the quality of the various functions. Here are some sample shots…

There are also a number of filters that you can use whether its for social media postings whether its Facebook or Twitter. The main camera also features a bunch of output options namely:

  • 4:3
  • Fullscreen
  • 16:9
  • 1:1

The phone’s night mode also gets an upgrade from the last flagship phone. Its clearer and the colors more lively considering the poorly-lit condition. Check out some of my night shots using the v20 Pro.

There’s also an option for AR Filters which adds more fun to the selfie experience using the v20 Pro…

Battery

The vivo v20 Pro has a 4000mAh battery which suffices whether you’re a hardcore phone user or a light one. And while it doesn’t pack the same juice as the other phones on the same level. But thanks to the fast-charging capabilities of the v20, it makes up quite well. Also the type C charger is a welcome touch too.

Gaming

The Qualcomm Snapdragon 765G octa-core processor SoC is a breathe of fresh air in terms of gaming. All the important and crucial factors are there including the game mode is intact and working better than ever. Playing heavier games like Mobile Legends, Asphalt 9 and even Genshin Impact becomes a fun experience with the vivo V20 Pro.

UI/UX

As mentioned somewhere in this vivo V20 Pro review, the smartphone runs on the Android 10 together with the Funtouch OS 11.

Big difference now with the current model of the v series phones from vivo is that the wallpapers are actually animated and vibrant and that’s in part of the AMOLED display they used.

Pros:

  • It’s so light and yet feels powerful.
  • The camera is exceptional and deserves to be the brand’s flagship for a little while longer
  • Smart and adaptive OS running seamlessly well with Android 10
  • Gaming is so much fun
  • For this vivo v20 Pro review, I really have to say that you get your money’s worth with the premium feel and quality of this smartphone from the camera to the make to functions and capabilities!

Cons:

  • It’ll take a while to get used to using the Type-C port as the headphone’s jack especially if you’re not familiar with what apple is doing with their phones these days.
  • The 6.44 inch display can be a little “too small” considering that some of the 5G capable phones of the market have bigger screens. Not really a biggie but it can be confusing especially if you came off using a smartphone with a bigger display.
  • There’s still the notch.
  • Audio’s a little weaker compared to previous models
  • Bloatware still running wild

The vivo V20 Pro is now available in stores and in online stores like Shopee and Lazada with the SRP of P24,999!
