Benedict Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange added to Spider-Man 3
The third Spider-Man movie just got bigger and continues to connect to the Marvel Cinematic Universe after Disney and Sony’s “rift” with the announcement of Benedict Cumberbatch joining the untitled Spider-Man 3 movie as Doctor Strange.
The Hollywood Reporter posted a story about Cumberbatch joining Spider-Man 3 which already stars Tom Holland, Marisa Tomei, Jacob Batalon and even Jamie Foxx. The reports also suggest that Cumberbatch’s Doctor Strange in the film will takeover the mentorship role that Robert Downey Jr.’s Iron Man/ Tony Stark left behind after the events of Avengers: Endgame.
Having Stephen Strange appear in the film will also help make things clear as to why Jamie Foxx’s Electro is alive and well in the MCU considering he “died” at the end of Marc Webb’s Amazing Spider-man 2 from a few years ago. Maybe its got something to do with the multiverse, a topic that Marvel Studios copped out on in 2019’s Spider-Man Far From Home.
