Actor Tom Sturridge could potentially star in Netflix Sandman series
Rumors are currently swirling that actor Tom Sturridge could potentially play the lead role in Netflix’s Sandman series based on Neil Gaiman’s seminal work.
Collider reports that there’s a big chance that Sturbridge could play Dream of the Endless. Of course at this point the report could be true considering production for the series would begin in three weeks.
The Sandman series got an eleven episode order which would fill out the first season. According to reports, production for the series was supposed to start earlier but was halted by the pandemic. This was also an opportunity for Gaiman and his team to fine tune the script together with the creative team of Allan Heinberg and David S. Goyer.
There will be some significant changes but according to Gaiman himself, they tried their best to make it as faithful as possible to his 75-issue run on the title which featured Dream aka Morpheus. Along the way in this story, readers get introduced to other members of Dream’s family called The Endless including Death, Desire, Destiny, Delirium, Despair and Destruction.
Sources say that Sturridge tested for the title role earlier this year along with Tom York (Poldark) and Colin Morgan (Merlin) before emerging victorious.
