James Tynion IV and Tony Daniel takeover Batman book starting with Batman # 86
In case you missed it, Tom King will be stepping down as Batman writer to begin work on a new book Batman and Catwoman. Meanwhile DC Comics has announced a new creative team in the form of James Tynion IV and artist Tony Daniel.
The new dynamic duo would begin their run in Batman # 86 which picks up after the events of the current storyline City of Bane which sees the Venom-laced baddie taking over Gotham City after orchestrating the downfall of the Batman from behind the scenes incuding wreaking Batman and Catwoman’s intended wedding.
In a recent interview, Tynion said:
Over the last seven years that I’ve been working with DC Comics, I’ve been writing a lot of Batman books, but a lot of them have always been about what the supporting cast is about,” said Tynion. “Even on my Detective run, it was about the Bat family as a unit. It was about creating a kind of Batman team and the one type of Batman story that I have never told before is a straight up solo Batman story. And I have been cooking on lots of ideas for a long time. So it’s just like I started pulling all of them together when I got the call. I’m just really, really excited about that, unbelievably so.”
When asked if his Batman run would introduce a new Batman suit, Tynion says its still going to be the Hush-era suit that he’ll be using with some surprising new tech that comes along with it.
