The trailer was released as part of the promotional barrage for the D23 Expo which will feature everything upcoming under the Walt Disney umbrella.
I love the imagery for this series whether its the dismantled Stormtrooper helmets to the badass, space age Western style that they put in. Also the fact that we never get to see Pedro Pascal’s face the whole time in the official trailer means a lot. It puts the whole bad-ass “mystery man” into play really well.
You have to love the makeup and costumes they put in too for some of the cast members like Gina Carano. Carl Weathers shows off his acting too in those precious few seconds we see him in this trailer. Giancarlo Esposito also nails it quite well that he’s one of the bad guys for this series. Speaking of bad guys, the whole concept of being the villain here is relative. Everybody’s a bad guy in other characters eyes, especially in the Star Wars universe and that won’t change for this Disney+ TV show.
The action is insane and while we’ve yet to see extra space creatures doing cool stuff, the trailer is surprisingly satisfying with the amount of space violence. Whether is space battles with dope looking ships to classic Mexican Standoff moments featuring the titular Mandalorian, we’re definitely set for this series.
I have to echo too what some fans have stated about this and last year’s Solo; this should have been what Solo felt like but sadly, that’s not what we ended up having. Still, I consider myself one of the small few who liked the movie. You could check out my Solo review HERE if you’re interested in learning what I thought of the movie.
