Mark Hamill Game to Play Vesemir for Netflix’s The Witcher
While Netflix’s The Witcher is far off, the casting has already started unofficially with Mark Hamill stating he’s game to play the elder Witcher Vesemir for the TV series.
Ok so here’s how that happened. Writer Laura Hissrich had recently submitted her first draft for the series’ pilot and during the process, she shared character descriptions on social media including Vesemir’s.
On Twitter, she describes Vesemir as:
“fatherly,” “wise,” “sprightly,” and “ancient.” He’s also a historian and keeper of secrets
Fans and followers then liken the description to a certain legend from a galaxy far, far, away. An icon named Luke Skywalker played by Mark Hamill. The character description eventually reached Hamill who then responded by tweeting this:
“I have no idea what this is or what it’s about but agree it could/should be played by me“
Hissrich then commented that she may have sufferred from a heart attack after hearing such a positive response from the actor and voice over.
Meanwhile, other character descriptions have been posted online but they all seem to be supporting characters.
Netflix’s The Witcher series will be based on the Polish novel written by Andrzej Sapkowski and not on the video game adaptation whose last entry was 2015’s The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt..
