Infinity # 6 Recap – Captain Marvel, Thor, Hyperion, Hulk and Captain America vs Thanos, Corvus Glaive and Proxima Midnight
It’s 2019 and that means we’re only a short time away from the release of the next batch of Marvel Studios films including Captain Marvel and Avengers Endgame. And to celebrate that, lets take a look at the finale to Jonathan Hickman and Jim Cheung’s INFINITY which was released 2013.
In this issue, we find some of the Avengers’ heavy hitters returning to Earth after some time in space saving the universe from the threat of the Gardeners, who were so hellbent on killing the Universe. They succeeded in liberating worlds but Earth fell to the hands of Thanos and his Black Order. And now the heroes have returned to clean house.
I have to admit this was a pretty bad ass moment they did for Infinity # 6. The way, these heavy hitting Avengers slowly reveal themselves is awesome.
Meanwhile Thanos is getting ready for his win, he also got what he came for, which is his last remaining offspring, Thane.
Their celebration though is cut short, with the arrival of Hulk.
This epic moment however ends with the Hulk is dispatched by the combination of Corvus Glaive and Proxima Midnight take him down.
And just like that scene from Avengers Infinity War, Captain America saves the day.
I guess they did take that bit from Infinity after all…
A big fight ensues. This puts that final in Infinity # 6 finale.
Below we see something familiar and something we really need to see in Avengers Endgame. Captain America going one on one with Corvus Glaive and ofcourse, Thanos vs Captain Marvel.
And just like in Avengers Infinity War, Proxima Midnight just loves to butt in and ruin a good mano-a-mano.
Hyperion (who is back again in current Avengers lore as a would-be-opponent in Jason Aaron’s run) saves the day but also gets pierced by Glaive’s ummm glaive.
I guess, you can say, Hyperion took the role of Vision if you look at it in some way.
Above, we also see Captain Marvel going all Binary with her powers. Totally felt like a Super Saiyan mode. And while this was cool for the last two panels, its still not enough to stop Thanos from his plans.
Unfortunately for Thanos, they left one Avenger unaccounted for and its none other than Thor.
Sadly, even Thor isn’t strong enough to finish the fight. The end of this massive fight however, was done and delivered by an ulikely person.
That’s right, Thanos was taken out by his own son at the behest of the Ebony Maw.
Whew! That was a lot! If you think this was cool, then I must implore that you pick out this awesome book. And I suggest you pick out the hardbound version, because it has a lot of added bonus materials for you to read.
