Globe Telecom partners up with Riot Games, Mineski and Garena to Create Globe Gaming

Globe Telecom is dead set in helping the esports and gaming industry in the country with  their big brains and deep pockets while pooling together some of the best brands and names  when it comes to Philippine gaming. Globe Gaming, the new arm for Globe, was announced today with the reveal of their partners, Riot Games, Mineski and Garena.

In essence, Globe Gaming is a “holistic program designed to provide gamers and fans access to the latest titles, local, regional and global esports competitions.” It was also announced that they would be delving into original content and exclusive programs.

Globe President and CEO ErnestCu stated that Globe will support the gaming and esports industry by providing “fully optimized Internet connectivity, world class events and tournaments in the Philippines.

He adds:

“Together with our new partners, wewant to accelerate the gaming industry in the country by bringing gaming and esports into homes, mobile devices, malls and competition venues.”

Globe Gaming  – Mineski

The “premiere Philippines esports organization”, Mineski and MET (Mineski Events Team), has locked in a multi-year and very exclusive partnership with Gobe which wil include the creation AND development of a new esports team that can compete in regional and global events.

Mineski founder Ronald “Rhom” Robbins, adds:

“What excites us is Globe Teleco’s genuine commitment to build the future of gaming and esports in the Philippines. Their mission is authentic which is why we are embarking on this partnership.

One of the bigger news that came out of this launch and announcement is the co-production of the Globe Philippine Pro Gaming League. It’s a multi-title competition which offers teams the opporturnity to be crowned “Best in the Philippines” while earning advancement to elite tournaments. Additionally, Gobe and Mineski will bring back the MET owned Manila Masters in 2019.

Globe Gaming – Garena

Globe Gaming also opened up about its first-of-its-kind partnership with Garena, one of Southeast Asia’s leading game publisher. With the new deal comes more fresh content including actual content production, competitions and more. The collaboration between Globe and Garena will start with the game Arena of Valor or AoV, which wil have its first competition series called ‘Valor Cup’ here in the Philippines. These  tournaments offering teams  the chance to compete for entry into the Arena of Valor World Championships, held in Los Angeles in July where 500,000 of prize money is at stake.

Globe Gaming – Riot Games

League of Legend or LoL is also joining the scene for Globe Gaming. According to Johnson Yeh Managing Director of Riot Games for Greater China and Southeast Asia:

“Sharing a mindset is critical to any partnership, and Globe shares our vision in building for the long term growth of esports across the region.”

Their plan for the Philippines is to introduce a “groundbreaking multi-country tournament structure which awards the winning team direct entry into the League of Legends World Championships.” The tournament which was known as the SEA Tour will lead to the first ever regional championship to be held in Manila in August 2018 under the name “Globe Conquerors Manila”. It’s also going to be the region’s “Leading sanctioned, competitive LoL event”.

Jin Oh, CEO of Garena says:

We are extremely excited to be collaborating with Globe on League of Legends and Arena of Valor. Garena has always strived to bring esports to the next level and we could not be happier to find a like-minded partner in Globe who shares this vision, and is similarly willing to invest time and resources into growing esports in the Philippines.

Globe Telecom’s initial partnership won’t be the last as we will be seeing more innovative and community-oriented programs driving the growth and development of the country’s esports and gaming culture.
