First Look at Scarlet Johansson in Ghost in the Shell

The Hollywood version of Ghost in the Shell is definitely happening and we now have our first official look at actress Scarlett Johansson as the movie’s protagonist.

We have to thank Paramount Pictures and Dreamworks Pictures for this first look at the vaunted Hollywood actress taking on the role of the anime and manga ass-kicker.

Ghost in the Shell is based on the cyberpunk manga written by Masamune Shirow. Hopefully the movie follows the plot of the original manga which features the Major, a special ops, one-of-a-kind human-cyborg hybrid who leads the elite task force Section 9. Devoted to stopping the most dangerous criminals and extremists, Section 9 is faced with an enemy whose singular goal is to wipe out Hanka Robotic’s advancements in cyber technology.

The film will be directed by ‘Snow White and the Huntsman”s Rupert Sanders and will also star Beat Takeshi Kitano as Daisuke Aramaki, Juliette Binoche as Dr. Ouelet, Michael Pitt as Kuze, Pilou Asbæk as Batou, and Kaori Momoi. The members of Section 9 are played by Chin Han, Danusia Samal, Lasarus Ratuere, Yutaka Izumihara and Tuwanda Manyimo.
