Here’s my The Witcher S1E1 review which will be dropping on Netflix starting December 20. It stars Henry Cavill as Geralt of Rivia.
So let’s get straight to the point. The Witcher is awesome. You should catch it when it starts streaming on Netflix and just binge watch the hell out of it.
Though I’m already onboard Cavill playing Geralt, I’m totally amazed at how he got the part from the game anyway. All those little nuances like his “hrmms” to his apathetic view on the world is just there. Everything is there. He’s also got the physique and screen presence to be the series protagonist. I’d rather also you not bitch about that because the dude is a real life towering figure.
Netflix didn’t hold back on the visual effects and the gore too as there’s tons of this in this episode particular in that scene in Blaviken, which also explains why he’s called the Butcher of Blaviken.
We don’t see Triss or Yennefer in this episode although we do get to see a lot of Ciri or Cirilla in this episode. It’s actually a great framing device to see just how far these two will go as the story progresses. Geralt is struggling and just got branded as a murderer while Ciri escapes her home as the Nilgaardians attack her kingdom of Citra.
There’s a fair amount of action sequences here too that will make you want to see more episodes. And they were right when saying that the swordfights here tell a story because that’s exactly what they did. Every stab and slash means something and you can see that in that climatic fight scene in Blaviken.
The music sets the atmosphere just right in my opinion. From sweeping epic tones to harmonies that blend well with scenes, they crafted amazing music here.

I’m definitely loving this series as early as episode 1. Do not miss out on this please.
