The Pokemon Company celebrates the 30th anniversary of Pokemon with some big announcements including a new game! That’s right, there’s a new Pokemon game titled Pokemon Winds and Pokemon Waves and it’s just the perfect announcements for POKEMON DAY!

We still have a long way to go as the new Pokemon game from Game Freak and The Pokemon Company has been scheduled for a 2027 release. What’s fun here with the announcement is that we’ll be getting the Gen 10 starters and they are introduced quite nicely in the trailer. These three starters are — Pombon (Fire), Browt (Water), and Gecqua (Grass).
While we’re on the subject of these new starter Pokemons, let me do a quick ranking on the three based on which one is the most adorable.
For my top pick that would be Pombon
Who wouldn’t put this fluffy pupper in the top spot? Not only is he a strong fire-type Pokemon, he’s also a Pomeranian which is a lot better than a Chihuahua. I’m actually curious with how the next evolve forms of Pombon would look like. So far, I havent been disappointed in any of the designs that they’ve given for fire types in all 10 generations. Even Combusken can kind of grow on you.
Second rank for me would Gecqua
It’s nice that they stuck once more with lizards/ cold blooded creatures for water type for this generation. The design was appealing and Gecqua definitely looks like this mysterious pokemon. Kind of reminds me of Greninja back in the day. I’m hoping that they do Gecqua good with the second and third evolution.
Lastly, I have to pick Browt.
