Netflix has officially announced today that their upcoming project “The One Piece” is set for release in February 2027 with the first seven episodes dropping all at once that month!
We also got a new key visual that came along with the announcement featuring Luffy in the bar together with the would-be yonko Shanks and his crew!
According to reports, the new remake project currently being worked on by Wit Studio in Japan will initially have a seven-episode release for it’s first season and will follow closely what happened in the manga by Eichiro Oda. They will be eliminating any filler so every second counts for this remake project. They would be animating the first 50 chapters of the manga and fitting them neatly into 300 minutes.
Netflix released the concept art you can see up top which is also the second one to be released. The first art for the project we saw was when they actually announced the project some time back.
The One Piece will be directed by Masashi Koizuka together with Wit Studio with Hideaki Abe as the assistant director. Kyoji Asano (Spy X Family animation director) and Takatoshi Honda (The First Slam Dunk film) serves as character designers and chief animation directors.
The One Piece anime remake was first announced at the Jump Festa ’24 event in December 2023. The announcement stated that the anime series is adapting “starting from” the East Blue Saga (hinting it might cover more than the East Blue Saga, but this is not confirmed). The remake’s announcement is commemorated 25 years of the anime.
Meanwhile, the main One Piece anime series has currently entered a new season for 2026 which details the Strawhat Pirates as they enter the mythic land of Elbap where they encounter the giants as well as face off against the World Government, The Marines and even the series big bad, Imu.
