There were a lot of good things with Fantastic Four: First Steps but one subtle thing that they did good was redeem the character H.E.R.B.I.E. in the eyes of fans who disdained that silly little robot. And now that we’re almost hitting Avengers: Doomsday, Hasbro has decided to circle back to the Fantastic Four with the release of the Marvel Legends Avengers Doomsday Fantastic Four 2-packs.
So there are currently two 2-packs that have already been announced namely the bulkier and accessory-filled Human Torch and Invisible Woman 2-pack…
There’s definitely a lot going on, especially for Human Torch/ Johnny Storm played by Joseph Quinn in the movie. You can see that the Storm siblings’ figures are utilizing their powers. Johnny’s lower half is lit with flames and includes a number of flame related effects and accessories. Meanwhile Sue Storm’s figure is translucent giving off the effect of being invisible. She also comes with alternate hands and a forec field.
Doesn’t look anywhere near Johnny or Sue in the movie but that’s totally fine.
And then we have a 2-pack featuring Reed Richards/ Mr Fantastic together with HERBIE.
Just like the other pack, this version comes with the Avengers: Doomsday look for the leader of the FF and also features an alternate head and alternate hands.
And HERBIE is just one solid piece of figure that has standard articulation.
If you ask me, they really should have added in Ben Grimm aka The Thing and just made HERBIE into a bonus figure. But I guess they will be selling Ben Grimm as a bigger figure sometime next year as part of the post-Doomsday merch and action figures. He could also be added in as a random member of the second wave of Marvel Legends Avengers Doomsday figures, Will you be picking up any of these figures?
