With the Avengers disbanded once more after and during the events of Avengers Armageddon, the X-Men have decided to pick up the slack and start their own superhero team on par with the Avengers called the Maximum X-Men with writer Christopher Yost and artist Tony S. Daniel!
As you can see above, this team is composed of veteran X-Men who also have ties to the Avengers and some new mutants that will work extremely well with this new team that’s designed to take over while the actual Avengers start from scratch after whatever happens in the Avengers Armageddon book. The team will be led by Storm and will consists of Captain Britain (Betsy Braddock), Wolverine, Colossus, Bishop, Iceman, Firestar and Justice. Yes, Justice is in this book; a name we haven’t heard of for a long time let alone in an X-Men book.
While details and preview art is still scarce, Yost has promised that this would be both familiar and new with the team dealing with things the X-Men don’t usually deal with. The first arc actually focuses on the team doing a mission to stop an invasion from the Negative Zone, which means the the villain Annihilus is just around the corner.
But what about the Avengers in this post-Avengers Armageddon world? Well, Chip Zdarsky is handling and developing a new ongoing Avengers book starring most of the New Avengers lineup like Spider-Man, Wolverine, Luke Cage and even Daredevil.
And it also looks like Wolverine’s other superpower of being in every superteam has also returned. But maybe the creative team has a good explanation on why Logan is both with the Avengers and another X-Men team.
