Bandai Namco and A24 has officially revealed that the Elden Ring live-action movie based on the hit game and set for release March 3, 2028.

According to Bandai the film will be directed by Alex Garland and will be shot for IMAX, confirming that the widescreen format will be the top choice for the film adaptation’s release. While the press release has stated that production will begin in Spring 2026, there are already a number of set photos shared online including one featuring the character known as the “Dung Eater”

Here’s what we know about Elden Ring. For starters it was created by Hidetaka Miyazaki and developed by popular game developer FromSoftware. The game and lore was built by Game of Thrones creator George R.R. Martin. This Dark Fantasy action-RPG was released in 2022 and has sold 30 million copies plus racked in numerous Game of the Year awards. A spinoff titled Elden Ring Nightreign was released in May 30, 2025 which allowed players to cooperate and work together to defeat bosses and traverse dungeons.
According to publisher Bandai Namco, a new version is set for release titled ELDEN RING Tarnished Edition and will be an “all-in-one” version for the Nintendo Switch 2 which will also include content from the DLC ELDEN RING™ Shadow of the Erdtree released in June 2024 and four new armor sets and a new appearance customisation feature for Torrent the Spectral Steed (3 variants) have also been added to this edition. Players can look forward to playing ELDEN RING Tarnished Edition anytime, anywhere on the Nintendo Switch 2.
