Thundercats # 1 Spoilers – An Important Item for the Thundercats gets REKT
One of the biggest shockers for Thundercats # 1 by Declan Shalvey and artist Drew Moss for Dynamite Entertainment did happen and I think it was an interesting choice to spice things up for this new take on the adventures of Lion-O and the rest of the Thundercats.

So in this issue, Lion-O and the Thundercats get attacked by the Mutants who followed them as they escaped Thundera and landed on Third Earth. Lion-O summons his team to fight the invading horde of mutants and in one part of the fight Lion-O had to go one on one with the mutant known as Slithe when this shocking twist happens.
For this new volume, it looks like the all powerful sword has been broken and smashed into pieces. I’m already thinking how this would play out with the first story arc about Lion-O going on an adventure which will help him mature and be a good leader for his team as well as a mystical element stuff that will restore the Sword of Omens which he will then use to save the day against Mumm-Ra who also appears in this issue.
Another interesting part about this new book is how the mutants got a deeper connection to he Thundercats as they were the forces that brought their world to ruin and they are simply tracking them to this new world to finish the job. IIRC, the origina TV series kind of implied that the mutants were natives of Third Earth and they just came into conflict with the cats when they were turned to slaves by Mumm-Ra. I must go back to watch those original episodes when I get the time.
Either way, I think this was a fresh take on the established story. They made things certainly interesting and helps build up on rooting for Lion-O as he matures in the succeeding books
