HONOR X9b 5G REVIEW
Here’s my HONOR X9b 5G Review which is now available in stores with SRP P16,999 and dubbed as #TheToughestPhone!
The HONOR X9b 5G is the latest smartphone to join HONOR’s X series which follows the traditional tough smartphones at affordable pricing. This smartphone features a 6.78-inch AMOLED Curved Display with an Ultra-Bounce Anti-Drop design, the HONOR X9b 5G promises that you will be getting utmost durability and at the same time provides great quality images through the 108MP main camera, a 5MP ultra-wide camera and 3X zoom for high quality zoomed shot. You can also depend on a 5800mAh battery, which promises more than a day of battery life. So it’s basically getting a very durable phone as well as phone screen and really good photos.
Design
Let’s start out swinging on this HONOR X9b 5G review with the design, particularly the Vegan leather design. I got the “Sunrise Orange” unit and it definitely warrants a double look from people. Being vegan leather, you can bet that no animals were hurt in the production of the leather backing for this smartphone. Aside from the Sunrise Orange you can also get either the Emerald green or the Midnight Black.
In terms of build and design, you can expect the usual stuff for current Android smartphones. The right side of the phone features the power button and volume rockers; the bottom houses the USB charging port, the speaker and the SIM tray.
Circling back to the back of the phone, you can also see the circular design for the camera. And yes it also protrudes a little bit too.
I’m also quite cool with the phone’s weight which is 185g which includes the battery. Pretty light on the pocket. The whole total weight also makes you wonder just how small the battery of the phone is and why is it 5800mAh.
Lastly, it’s also marketed as being IP53 Water and dust upgraded protection. And while its splash proof, I really don’t recommend you go throwing the phone in pools or any body of water, it’s really just there as a precaution.
Display
For the price point, I’m really excited to see that the guys at HONOR have added in this AMOLED curved display. Super cool for me to be honest.
The 6.78-inch AMOLED screen also features 1.07 Billion Colors, 100% DCI-P3 meaning it can get bright, really bright. To make it more bright it also features 1200 nits Peak Brightness. One of the biggest selling point for the HONOR X9b 5G also features the Ultra-Bounce Anti-Drop Display with SGS Five-star Overall Drop . This also makes it very, very durable.

Camera
The HONOR X9b 5G also boasts of a somewhat promising main camera and rear camera. The 108MP rear camera or main camera works in tandem with a 5MP (f/2.2) Ultra-Wide Camera which makes you take wider shots at a shorter distance…
So it’s a great phone to bring when attending events or going to outdoor activities.
But a word of warning though, don’t expect to have super clear images even when you go past 2x Zoom. You’ll sadly be disappointed with the output. So stick with a zoom or two. The color composition and the AI system they used for the camera works well most of the time. It captures good amount of lighting on its own but you can tweak the brightness of the shot too if you want.
The X9b 5G’s camera also sports a 2MP (f/2.4) Macro Camera which does a nice job of taking photos up close making this smartphone the perfect phone to shoot food photos at for your Instagram account or Tiktok account.
The Front camera is also pretty reliable for its price.
At default, you get standard images that’s highly dependent on the lighting and just like with the main camera, you can make slight adjustments to the brightness of the photo which thereby improves the color the climate and the overall feel for each selfie you take.
Performance
The HONOR X9b 5G features Qualcomm® Snapdragon® 6 Gen 1 (4nm) with a Octa-core, 4xA78 *2.2GHz+4xA55*1.8GHz CPU and a Qualcomm Adreno GPU. It also features MagicOS 7.2, based on Android 13 for its OS

Battery and Charging
The HONOR X9b 5G comes with a 5800mAh Battery10 and a 35W SuperCharge system. Both are features you barely see in mid range phone but thanks to HONOR’s vision and mission to provide high quality smartphones at affordable prices, we are getting these features. And it does come in handy especially and complements the whole #TheToughestPhone monicker because who want a phone that’s so durable but chokes when it comes to battery life.
On a full charge and on standby, the phone can run for 3 days. But realistically speaking, it can last you an entire day of mobile gaming and constant mobile connection with the need to charge. This is definitely the lowkey reasons why this phone show so much promise.
