The MCU Thunderbolts rumored to face off against The Sentry

So according to Beyond the Trailer, there’s a big chance that the Thunderbolts could be facing off against The Sentry in their own solo movie.

According to Beyond the Trailer, the movie’s villain could be the Sentry which could be both interesting and challenging for the team which is mostly composed of super soldiers.

Again, let me reiterate how awful the lineup is considering that they have 5 super soldiers, no real muscle and only one member that’s got an actual power. I forgive them easily though since they have Sebastian Stan’s Bucky Barnes aka The Winter Soldier in the group. But still, you have to wonder how these guys can fight the equivalent of Superman.

The Thunderbolts stars Sebastian Stan, David Harbour, Florence Pugh, Olga Kurylenko, Wyatt Russell, Julia Louise-Dreyfus, Harrison Ford and Hannah John-Kamen.

In the comics, The Sentry is Robert “Bob” Reynolds, a superpowered being that also hosts a malevolent force known as The Void.

Ever since The Sentry’s reintroduction to the Marvel books, he’s always played the tank character so to speak. He first joined the New Avengers after the team saves him from The Void with the combined help of the Fantastic FourThe X-Men and the Inhumans. When the team dissolved, Bob was recruited by Norman Osborn to join the Dark Avengers.

Osborn also cut a deal with The Void turning him into the former Green Goblin’s new enforcer to keep characters in The Cabal in line like Namor and Doctor Doom.

He eventually got into a fight with an enraged Thor who “killed” The Void after the latter ripped Loki in half during the event Siege aka the Siege of Asgard in Broxton, OK.

And if I do bite on this approach, I am already thinking how this Marvel team would fare. Maybe this could be Marvel’s answer to the Suicide Squad for the Marvel Cinematic Universe or MCU. Or they could take it somewhere else and formally introduce the Dark Avengers although that’s unlikely considering they barely have any members of that superteam running around the MCU.

But let’s see. Thunderbolts is tentatively slated to land in theaters on July 26, 2024.
