Westworld officially cancelled by HBO, Fans not getting Westworld Season 5
The deep sci-fi series Westworld has been officially cancelled by WB Discovery and HBO which also means we will never get Westworld season 5.
Check out the Westworld season 4 poster below:
Westworld is a dystopian sci-fi drama, based on Michael Crichton’s 1973 film of the same name. It is a dark odyssey about the dawn of artificial consciousness and the birth of a new form of life on Earth. It centers around a technologically-advanced amusement park, where human-like android hosts are programmed to fulfill each high-paying guests’ wants and desires.
Season four stars Evan Rachel Wood, Emmy winner Thandiwe Newton, Ed Harris, Jeffrey Wright, Tessa Thompson, Luke Hemsworth, Aaron Paul, Angela Sarafyan, and James Marsden. Additional cast includes Oscar winner Ariana DeBose, Aurora Perrineau, and Daniel Wu.
Season 4 ended last August 14, 2022 and the showrunners, Jonathan Nolan and Lisa Joy were still talking about the possibility of an extension. There are a number of reasons for the Westworld cancellation. Many believe that it was cancelled because of poor ratings / poor earnings from the current season. That alone could be a big factor. The second is that this series could be part of the number of projects and content that the newly made WB Discovery needed to remove as the merger recently concluded.
