Your Name live action gets Carlos Lopez Estrada as writer and director

Raya and the Last Dragon‘s Carlos López Estrada will write and direct the live-action remake of Your Name.

The upcoming live action adaptation of the financial and critical hit anime film will be helmed and written by Raya and the Last Dragon co-director Carlos Lopez Estrada. With the caliber of the writer and director working on the project it might be a little more promising but you have to understand that I am still apprehensive about this live-action project firstly because nobody really asked for it and there’s just a lot of nuances that would be lost in translation when it goes Hollywood.

Your Name was directed by and created by Makoto Shinkai and was released in 2016 and followed the story of two teenagers who find themselves swapping bodies on a regular basis until they develop feelings for each other. It’s totally dramatic and feel good movie. Check out my review HERE.

The film held the record for one of the anime films that went big in the box office together with other greatst like Hayao Miyazaki’s Spirited Away and until recently Kimetsu no Yaiba Demon Slayer The Movie.
