Realme 9 Pro+ FreeFire Edition Review
Hey guys! Here’s my realme 9 Pro+ Free Fire edition review! Definitely worth a GET for gamers and entertainment buffs who want a new daily driver phone. It features a 6.4 inch AMOLED display, 50MP triple camera, 16MP front camera and MediaTek Dimensity 920!
Design
Being that this is a variant of the realme 9 Pro+, I would like to point you over to my review of that phone. But don’t take it the wrong way, this is still AS impressive and dependable as the OG version in terms of physical appearance, weight and height. That also means all the buttons are the same. The right side of the phone will feature the power button, the left side will feature the volume rocker. The bottom also features the USB charging port, the speaker and headphone jack. There’s no fingerprint scanner anywhere as the scanner is located within the screen.
Display
This phone features a 6.4 inches Super AMOLED Display with a 90Hz refresh rate with 430 nits to 600 nits. Honestly it looks great and I’m very satisfied with the size of the display and at the same time easy to grip. The 20:9 ratio is also perfect for watching videos or playing games…
The 1080 x 2400 pixels size is also great for entertainment purposes.
Other features for the display includes a heart rate monitor feature and Corning Gorilla Glass 5 making it sturdy enough for users who are on-the-go.
UI
Just like the standard realme 9 Pro+, the Free Fire edition also runs on the current realme software while matched perfectly with the Android 12 OS. This gives us smoother interface and interaction whether its scrolling from the home page to scrolling down Facebook, Twitter or other social media platforms.
There’s actually no sign of lagging on the smartphone (yes, just like the original version).
If there’s one little gripe I have with this smartphone is that its only operating with storage of 128GB; my EDC or every day carry phone, the 9 Pro+ came with 256GB of storage. But I guess this will boil exclusively down to function and necessity. There’s the realme cloud system in place though so that could help in your potential storage problems.
UX
In terms of UX or user experience, I have to say that this felt exhilirating as a paradrop into the island. It’s flashy and sleek and definitely looks like it was cut from the same cloth as the game Free Fire! The box alone speaks volumes about how it is connected to the mobile shooter game.
The UX also offers two options in terms of moving around the phone whether through gestures or by the standard apps in the home screen. And since ties in with the Free Fire, expect a heavily themed wallpaper and home screen.
Also I liked this version because it doesn’t have too much bloatware. Well you can opt to remove most of them anyway and here’s how much storage is before installing stuff on the smartphones…
Camera
The main camera features 50MP main camera with f/1.8, 24mm (wide), 1/1.56″, 1.0µm, PDAF, OIS, an 8 MP, f/2.2, 119˚, 16mm (ultrawide), 1/4.0″, 1.12µm and a 2 MP, f/2.4, for macro. It also features LED Flash, HDR and Panorama mode. Here are sample shots…
For videos, the main camera can shoot 4K@30fps videos as well as 1080p@30/60/120/480fps and 720p@960fps.
This phone also has 16 MP front camera with f/2.4, 27mm (wide), 1/3.09″, 1.0µm…
… and also features LED flash, HDR, panorama. The front camera video can take videos with outputs from 4K@30fps, 1080p@30/60/120/480fps and 720p@960fps
Gaming
Gaming is a huge part of the realme 9 Pro+ FreeFire Edition and not only does this phone excell in providing excellent gaming experience its definitely fast and efficient.
Freebies
There’s also a ton of freebies here including a special gift card with Free Fire in-game bundle/ goodies…
a stylized SIM ejector…
a Free Fire map…
and a few stickers…
Final Thoughts:
The realme 9 Pro+ Free Fire Edition will be available in the Philippines for PhP 20,999! Its a definite win for me thanks to the themes, the freebies and the camera. It’s definitely a good investment if you want to kick ass in Free Fire or any game at that.
