George Perez has an illustrious career with both Marvel and DC Comics. Throughout his career he was able to draw some of the most iconic characters from both publishers. Some of his works includes:
New Teen Titans
Crisis on Infinite Earths
Infinite Crisis
Final Crisis: Legion of 3 Worlds
Wonder Woman
Hulk: Future Imperfect
Avengers
He also did all the interior and cover art for the massively awesome JLA/Avengers book; a crossover between Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, the Avengers and the Justice League with writer Kurt Busiek. That book even got new life recently when it was announced that they would be selling a limited edition version around the same time George made his health announcement.
In the early 2000s, George went back to DC Comics where he was added to the Superman creative team for the DC relaunch dubbed New 52. He did the initial breakdowns and wrote the book while artist Jesus Merino did the finishing art.
His last comic book was with the BOOM Studios title Sirens which ran from 2014 to December 2016; it was a six issue series which he wrote and drew.
In 2020, George officially retired from the industry. He did make sporadic appearances and was active online. He was even invited to see Patty Jenkins’ Wonder Woman when it premiered in the US. And then back in December 2021, he announced online that he has pancreatic cancer which was inoperable. He also announced that he had between 6 to 12 months to live without treatment, something he opted to do.
Our condolences to George’s family including his wife and brother.
