Peacemaker’s Chukwudi Iwuji continues to prove that he could be High Evolutionary in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 3

Actor Chukwudi Iwuji who plays Peacemaker’s boss Murn in the HBO Max series Peacemaker recently did an interview where he talks about how he landed the role in James Gunn’s Guardians of the Galaxy volume 3 and a bit of hi unannounced role.

So the context here was that when James Gunn announced that he was adding Iwuji’s name to the cast and saying that this was a powerful character in the comics, fans already jumped on the idea that he would be playing the High Evolutionary especially since Gunn explicitly stated that the movie will heavily focus on Rocket’s past and his creators. And there’s only a handful of mad scientists in the Marvel U that likes to tamper with genetics specifically with Human-Animal DNA and on the top of the list is High Evolutionary.

Now in his interview with The Hollywood Reporter he spoke about how he was hired as well as what his character is like.

“I literally went from dancing on the soundstage to James saying, ‘Come over here, I want you to be in Guardians of the Galaxy 3,’” Iwuji tells The Hollywood Reporter. “And I remember it was one of the few genuine times of my life where I was speechless. I just looked at him and I was like, ‘Um, yes, okay.’ So that’s how he offered it. I mean, we still had to go through Kevin Feige and certain people, but apparently, he’d already spoken to them and they liked the idea of it.”

On his unspecified character in GOTG volume 3

“Powerful. Extremely powerful. Complex. James and I were talking about it, but he’s certainly one of, if not the most complex characters we’ve seen in the freaking Marvel universe. So he’s deeply complex and deeply powerful, and I hope intriguing. I hope I bring that to it.”

That just about sounds like the High Evolutionary although lets all minimize our expectations a bit.

Guardians of the Galaxy volume 3 is scheduled for release May 2023 and will be directed by James Gunn. The Marvel Studios film will star Chris Pratt, Zoe Saldana, Bradley Cooper, Vin Diesel, Pom Klementieff, Will Poulter and Chukwudi Iwuji.
