Iza Calzado announces she’ll be in Darna TV series

Kapamilya actress Iza Calzado has recently revealed that she will be part of the cast for the upcoming Darna TV series starring Jane De Leon.

Laurenti Dyogi, the ABS-CBN head of TV production, revealed that she has an important role in a virtual interview which also coincides with her birthday.

“Iza will officially be part of the Darna TV series that will start shooting last quarter. I want to announce what exactly she will play but I don’t want also to spoil the announcement,” he said.

He also added that he promised Iza will be playing a dream role, and added that it will be a fun and important role for the series and the actress.

Calzado then admits that she had met with Dyogi as early as 2017 for the project, which at the time was still a film project with a different actress and a different director.

The project has gone through a number of changes through the years before settling with newcomer Jane De Leon (Ang Probinsyano). The film was originally planned to be done in 2015 by Erik Matti with Angel Locsin. Angel had to back out of the project due to a back injury preparing for the role which was then passed on to Liza Soberano. And just like the “bato” that turns Narda into Darna, the role was then passed over to Jane De Leon after Soberano encountered a finger injury which taping scenes for Bagani.
