Dave Bautista comments on why he’s not in Marvel’s What If…?

A fan on Twitter asked Dave Bautista who played Drax the Destroyer in the Guardians of the Galaxy movies as well as the last two Avengers movies why he wasn’t doing voiceover work for Marvel’s What If…?

The former WWE star and champion Batista shared his opinions and thoughts about his absence in the upcoming animated Disney+ show produced and developed by Marvel Studios.

It was a quite simple answer too and a bit sad.

Batista’s Drax the Destroyer figures heavily in an upcoming What If episode which explores the idea of what if T’Challa became Star-Lord instead of Chris Pratt in the original timeline.

There could be a number of reasons why he wasn’t asked to do the voice of animated Drax for the series. It could be a budget issue with Bautista now commanding a bigger amount of money compared to when he started. The guy’s a superstar now with Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead now behind him and appearances in the James Bond franchise and even the upcoming Dune remake film.

It could also be scheduling conflicts at the time they were recording voices for the What If series or lastly it could be that things are getting a little sour between Bautista and the Disney corporation. Remember Bautista was the outspoken members of the GoTG crew who defended James Gunn when Disney sacked him a few years ago.
